About This Special Issue
The Special Issue summarizes results of typical numerical flow simulations and their experimental or operational evaluations, solved in the past in VÚTS – Center for Research in Machinery in Liberec (former Research Institute of Textile Machines), Czech Republic in the area of fluid mechanics for various technical applications, first of all in textile technologies. Typical areas are focused on systems developed in VUTS and now spread all over the world - air jet weaving system, open-end spinning and also drying, carding, nonwovens etc. Individual parts of systems are simulated, as for instance air flow, air drag in main nozzles, designed as ejectors, flow field in auxiliary or relay nozzle, flows in the channel of weaving reed, influence of reed dent shape on the picking reliability, mutual flow - structure interactions etc. Necessary auxiliary systems are studied, too, as for instance parts of air conditioning systems – heaters, tubing, air exhausting, pneumatic transport, heat transfer, aerodynamic noise etc.

Abstract: The contribution describes frequent functional problems of exhausting devices, caused by no observing of essential rules of fluid mechanics. For instance, due to the unbalanced tubing system of several branches the medium flows in individual connections and their relevant energy transports are not corresponding to the designed one, or the diffuser ... Abstract: So-called wall flows are usable in many technical applications as a simple and reliable device for exhausting of light materials as dust, smoke, hot air, etc. In another cases, such flows can make troubles by treatment of light materials as fibers, etc. and it is necessary to suppress the wall effects by suitable design adjustments. But there is de... Show More
